Record Snow for Houston, Western Michigan

Big Wet Flakes

Big Wet Flakes

Houston had a blast yesterday with their earliest snowfall ever in recorded history.  Residents of SE Texas had enough snow for snowball fights and even a few snowmen.  Kids of all ages really enjoyed the early season snow.  Chron.com reports that the roads stayed wet and weren’t a problem until last night when residents were warned to be on the lookout for black ice.

It’s the second December in a row that Houston has seen snow.  Pretty rare for a city that averages one snowfall every four years.

Meanwhile, Western Michigan was hit with some heavy lake effect snow.  WWMT.com reports that Grand Rapids set a record for the date with 5.5 inches, but some areas northeast of town got as much as 15 inches.

The storm that hit Houston continued east and brought snow to Louisiana and Mississippi.  Atlanta was expecting maybe a little bit from the storm this morning.  Looks like the AccuWeather forecast for the Winter is on track so far.
