Putting the Global in the Fight Against “Global Warming”
Glenn Beck explains what the real agenda is behind the global fight against global warming and it has very little (OK, nothing) to do with the environment!
Real Solutions to the Energy Crisis

Former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich
Former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich is scheduled to speak before the House Committee on Energy and Commerce today. His testimony follows that of Al Gore of run away greenhouse gas catastrophic global warming fame. While we at StopGlobalCoolingNow.com strongly believe that the recent warming of the planet in the 80s and 90s was driven by the Sun, along with the cooling we are currently seeing, we are not heartless planet haters. We believe in clean air and clean water. We believe in being good stewards of the natural resources that God has provided this great country. We also believe that it’s OK to use those resources to fuel this great country’s productivity that increases the standard of living for all of the world’s inhabitants!
Speaker Gingrich outlines in his testimony the reasons why the proposed Cap and Trade legislation would be terrible for the economy and national security. He also outlines how we can, and MUST, use our own natural resources responsibly.
Here is the entire testimony. And here are some highlights:
THIS BILL IS WRONG FOR NATIONAL SECURITY
For over 30 years we’ve proclaimed the need for energy independence, but bad policies have forced us to become more and more reliant on dictators and kings for our energy. Instead of being independent, we are now bowing to kings and shaking hands with dictators to get our energy.
Vice President Gore was right today when he said “Our national security remains at risk so long as we remain dangerously dependent on flows of foreign oil reserves owned by sovereign states that are vulnerable to disruption. The rate of new discoveries, as you know, is falling even as demand elsewhere in the world is rising.”“
However Vice President Gore’s analysis was wrong. Our current energy import strategy is entirely a function of our own government’s anti- domestic energy policies. The United States government blocks the development of new energy sources and inhibits the use of existing energy and then explains that we will have a shortage of energy. It is an artificial, government imposed shortage not a naturally occurring phenomenon.
Put simply, the government’s decision to make us more dependent upon foreign sources of energy means that we often fund the behavior and activities abroad of dictators who compromise our own national security.
Iran exports 2.3 million barrels of oil per day, meaning they make billions a year from exporting their oil’ This means more money to allow Hezbollah and Hamas to buy more rockets, more money to finance their terrorist operations throughout the Middle East, and more money for propaganda to convince that part of the world to hate America. This is a path to eventual destruction of our freedoms…..
AN ENERGY TAX IS WRONG FOR THE ECONOMY
When you consider President Obama’s budget, this proposed legislation has a price tag for the American people of at least $646 billion. We know from news reports that senior Obama administration officials have indicated that $646 billion is a conservative amount and that the overall figure may be as much as three times that amount or $1.9 trillion in new taxes.
This is currently a 648 page bill, or, put another way, $1-3 billion per page. This is quite a costly bill, even for the standards of this Congress. It would be two and a half times the size of the giant stimulus package passed earlier this year. And it would be a tax burden not a spending stimulus so it would deeply burden the American people and the economy…..
THIS BILL IS WRONG FOR GOVERNMENT OF, BY, AND FOR THE PEOPLE
If we have learned any lesson out of the decay of government over the last twenty years, it ought to be that the scale of bureaucracy and the scale of micromanagement as laid out in this bill are an invitation to corruption and an invitation to more politicians playing games. The idea that the Secretary of Energy is now going to be the czar of Jacuzzis is just absurd. (If you don’t believe me, check page 230 of the draft discussion bill.)
The kind of centralization that is needed to implement a government-run, government-manipulated marketplace for carbon such as this bill proposes will inevitably lead to fraud and corruption….
GETTING TO THE RIGHT BILL
There are a few points of hope in this bill, but nothing to encourage the dramatic scale of change we need to address our energy needs.
The first good thing in it is a provision that restricts the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from regulating carbon, which the EPA is currently positioning itself to do. This would be a power grab of staggering proportions and completely antithetical to historic American rallying cries of “no taxation without representation”. We didn’t win a revolution to replace taxation by an unaccountable King for taxation by unaccountable bureaucrats.
On the positive side this bill also provides incentives for the wide-scale commercial deployment of CCS.
The decisive requirement for “green coal technology” (enabling very high percentage of carbon recapture) is driven by the fact that by some estimates China will be adding one new coal plant every week from now to 2020. Without the development of an affordable green coal capability it is inevitable that carbon loading of the atmosphere will expand. The highest value for reducing carbon in the atmosphere is a Manhattan project type effort to develop affordable green coal technologies for use worldwide. Anything short of that is a strategy for crushing the American economy while exporting jobs overseas.
The bill also promotes the development of a smart electric grid that will help prevent blackouts like the ones that happened in 2000 and 2001 in California and in the Northeast in 2003, while helping to reduce peak loads on the system. This is an important step toward being able to transport variable wind and solar power across the country.
The right bill, as Secretary Chu said, would have a section on nuclear power, which this bill does not. But so much more needs to be done to create the dramatic breakthroughs we need, in efficiency, in new energy sources, in cleaner fuels……
These are just excerpts of Mr. Gingrich’s excellent points. The Speaker then outlines his “ROADMAP FOR MORE AMERICAN ENERGY NOW.” Again, read it all for yourself here.
Thank you Mr. Speaker for your excellent analysis and service to your country!
Flatulant Friday’s Not so Crazy After All!
One sometimes wonders what is going on in those brilliant scientific minds. When we were in school science was our favorite subject. Looks like we would have had a chance! Microbe flatulence could power the fuel cells of the future! Check it:
It sounds like a gag gift instead of serious science, but a new electrical farting machine could improve fuel cell technology by turning C02 in the atmosphere into methane.
Hey, you can’t make this stuff up! (actually we’ve been writing about it for years) We never thought we’d live to see the dream realized. We love science!
The Real Cost of Earth Day
Just how much it will cost them has been a point of contention lately. Many congressional Republicans, including members of the GOP leadership, have claimed that the plan to limit carbon emissions through cap and trade would cost the average household more than $3,100 per year. According to an MIT study, between 2015 and 2050 cap and trade would annually raise an average of $366 billion in revenues (divided by 117 million households equals $3,128 per household, the Republicans reckon).
OK, it’s not really the cost of Earth Day. It’s the projected cost of a policy that is aimed at lowering CO2 from the atmosphere to keep the planet from warming up. However, there are plenty of scientists who will tell you that the warming of the 80′s and 90′s has already stopped. We have outlined a ton of evidence that the world is getting colder, not warmer. Glaciers in Alaska and many parts of the Northern Hemisphere grew last year. It has been snowing in the last two years in places that normally don’t get snow. It’s been back to back very cold and snowy Winters in the Great Lakes region. Alaska had no Summer last year. Antarctica is getting colder, not warmer.
No. We don’t need to spend $3K per household to drive up energy costs and hurt our economy. What we need is a concerted effort to Stop Global Cooling Now! In light of the new study that says fat folk are contributing to the green house gases, I say, Super Size it on Earth Day for a warmer tomorrow!
More to Love!
Yes, it has come to this.
“We need to be doing a lot more to reverse the global trend toward fatness, and recognize it as a key factor in the battle to reduce (carbon) emissions and slow climate change,” the British scientists said.
Apparently, if you are overweight then you are helping the planet to warm up. We at StopGlobalCoolingNow.com say, THANK YOU!
Big is better. Big is beautiful! We salute you, and give you a big, warm HUG! Next time you are wedged into a booth at your favorite eatery, just say, “please pass a heaping helping of warmer temperatures!”
UPDATE 3/23/09: Secretary of State says “Tackling climate change is like trying to lose weight”
Over 600 Scientists Refute Global Warming Claims
This Senate report came out in December of last year. It contains hundreds of scientists who disagree that global warming is man made, or is a serious threat. Included in the group of scientists are former signers of the IPCC Report put out by the U.N. Here are just a few excerpts picked from HUNDREDS of scientists in the report:
Solar Physicist and Climatologist Douglas V. Hoyt, who coauthored the book The Role of the Sun in Climate Change, and has worked at both the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), has developed a scorecard to evaluate how accurate climate models have been. Hoyt wrote, “Starting in 1997, we created a scorecard to see how climate model predictions were matching observations. The picture is not pretty with most of the predictions being wrong in magnitude and often in sign.” (LINK) A March 1, 2007 blog post in the National Review explained how the scoring system works. “[Hoyt] gives each prediction a ‘yes-no-undetermined score.’ So if the major models’ prediction is confirmed, the score at the beginning would be 1-0-0. So how do the models score when compared with the evidence? The final score is 1-27-4. That’s one confirmed prediction, 27 disconfirmed, and 4 undetermined,” the blog noted. Hoyt has extensively researched the sun-climate connection and has published nearly 100 scientific papers in such areas as the greenhouse effect, aerosols, cloud cover, radiative transfer, and sunspot structure. (LINK) To see Hoyt’s climate model scorecard, go here: (LINK)
Solar physicists Galina Mashnich and Vladimir Bashkirtsev, of the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences, believe the climate is driven by the sun and predict global cooling will soon occur. The two scientists are so convinced that global temperatures will cool within the next decade they have placed a $10,000 wager with a UK scientist to prove their certainty. The criteria for the $10,000 bet will be to “compare global temperatures between 1998 and 2003 with those between 2012 and 2017. The loser will pay up in 2018,” according to an April 16, 2007 article in Live Science. (LINK) Bashkirtsev and Mashnich have questioned the view that the “anthropogenic impact” is driving Earth’s climate. “None of the investigations dealing with the anthropogenic impact on climate convincingly argues for such an impact,” the two scientists noted in 2003. Bashkirtsev and Mashnich believe the evidence of solar impacts on the climate “leave little room for the anthropogenic impact on the Earth’s climate.” They believe that “solar variations naturally explain global cooling observed in 1950-1970, which cannot be understood from the standpoint of the greenhouse effect, since CO2 was intensely released into the atmosphere in this period.” (LINK)
Internationally renowned scientist Dr. Antonio Zichichi, president of the World Federation of Scientists and a retired Professor of Advanced Physics at the University of Bologna in Italy, who has published over 800 scientific papers, questioned man-made global warming fears. According to an April 27, 2007 article at Zenit.org, Zichichi “pointed out that human activity has less than 10% impact on the environment.” The article noted that Zichichi “showed that the mathematical models used by the [UN's] IPCC do not correspond to the criteria of the scientific method. He said the IPCC used ‘the method of ‘forcing’ to arrive at their conclusions that human activity produces meteorological variations.’” Zichichi said that based upon actual scientific fact “it is not possible to exclude the idea that climate changes can be due to natural causes,” and he added that it is plausible that “man is not to blame.” According to the article, “He also reminded those present that 500,000 years ago the Earth lost the North and South Poles four times. The poles disappeared and reformed four times, he said. Zichichi said that in the end he is not convinced that global warming is caused by the increase of emissions of ‘greenhouse gases’ produced through human activity.
Renowned Astronomer Sir Patrick Moore, a fellow of the UK’s Royal Astronomical Society, host of the BBC’s Sky at Night program since 1957 and author of over 60 books on astronomy called global warming concern ‘rubbish’ in an interview with The Sun in 2005. “I think it’s a lot of rubbish! From 1645-1715 the sun was inactive and we had a ‘Little Ice Age,’” Moore said. “Then the sun went back to normal and the world warmed up,” he concluded. Moore most recently co-authored two books published in 2006: 50 Years in Space: What We Thought Then What We Know Now; and Bang! The Complete History of the Universe. (LINK)
The debate isn’t over and the science isn’t settled. I am convinced that the Sun drove the recent warming of the planet and the quieter Sun is causing the world to cool. I don’t think the Climate models used to predict warming predicted the last two very cold Winters over much of the globe.
Court Cancels Offshore Drilling
This is why this debate is so important. If the Environmental Protection Agency believes that CO2 is a pollutant than we are in for a lot more rulings like this one:
A three-judge panel in the District of Columbia says the Bush administration’s Interior Department failed to consider the offshore environmental impact and marine life before approving an oil and gas leasing program in the Beaufort, Bering, and Chukchi (CHOOK-chee) seas.
While this ruling is not related to the EPAs finding the CO2 is a pollutant it does open the door to shutting the door on oil and gas exploration. I’m not looking forward to higher (much higher probably) energy prices that we can look forward too. It’s bad enough that Winter is hanging on into late April over parts of the country! Soon, we may add a high cost to keeping warm in the Winter and cool in the Summer.
I didn’t even mention the $700 billion flowing from the USA to oil producing countries. I also didn’t mention that our proceedures for extracting oil is more environmentally friendly than other countries. Nobody does a better job of preventing spills than the USA! Most oil accidents are tanker mishaps, which, as we import more and more oil and natural gas, we increase tanker traffic.
So, to summarize. Buy a pot bellied stove, chop up some tress and keep warm the best you can next Winter. It’s likely to be a cold, expensive one!
Setback: EPA Rules CO2 = Pollution
This is a dangerous ruling indeed. Not only is it likely to lead to higher energy prices even if Congress defeats Cap and Trade, but it means that our government agencies are committed to cooling off the planet when it’s already cooling off! This is anecdotal evidence, sure, but Las Vegas just had their latest ever recorded snowfall!
The last time snow fell in Las Vegas in April was on April 4,1958, making Wednesday’s activity the latest snow sighting recorded to date.
This is the same Spring storm that has paralyzed parts of Colorado and Wyoming with FEET of snow.
Snowfall of 3 to 5 feet has been recorded in the Front Range mountains and foothills with 1 to 3 feet of snow in the higher terrain of Douglas and Elbert Counties.
This has been a very long Winter for much of North America. Cap and Trade legislation, or EPA regulation is exactly the wrong way to go with so much snow and ice on the planet!
Please get your friends involved in Flatulent Friday’s and do what you can to breath out more CO2. Your acts of what may soon be civil disobedience may be our best hope to Stop Global Cooling Now!
Antarctica Gets Colder
Not warmer. COLDER! Don’t take my word for it. It’s according to researchers quoted here:
Ice core drilling in the fast ice off Australia’s Davis Station in East Antarctica by the Antarctic Climate and Ecosystems Co-Operative Research Center shows that last year, the ice had a maximum thickness of 1.89m, its densest in 10 years.
If Antarctica is getting colder, not warmer like most of the media likes to tell us, then perhaps Global Warming really is on hold, just like we have been saying all along.
